Hi due to have mastectomy, reconstruction and reduction at same time, operation has been put off as I had virus and antihist wouldn’t put me under need to wait 4 weeks worried BC will spread iv been put on Letrozole tablets
Hi Cambuslang
It sounds as if you have ER+ cancer due to taking the letrozole tablets. So, the tablets will be reducing your oestrogen which in effect, has 'fired' your cancer. I had anastrozole (similar thing) and I wasn't put on them until I had radiotherapy, quite a while after my operation.
So, 2 things there - firstly the tablets will be doing their job early and secondly, the cancer really doesn't grow that quickly. I had grade 3 (fasted growing) and from the month or so from diagnosis to operation it hadn't grown at all. If they thought it would grow and spread, then I'm 100% sure they would have done part of the operation - without the reconstruction and reduction.
I do hope this reassures you a little.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
