Hello Fellow-Fighters,
I bet I’m not the only one with this problem.
I’m on my second round of EC and for the first 10 days after a session everything tastes totally vile. water is like petrol, coffee tastes sour, even ginger beer is horrible. My sister-in-law suggested I make lemon barley water which is sometimes bearable, but I’ve not been able to find any other drinks which I can tolerate, let alone enjoy.
If you have discovered any drinks which taste okay to you during this phase, could you share it here so that those of us struggling to drink enough can try it too?
Thanks so much, cheers, Chyebren
Hi, try pineapple juice, I found that was the most bearable. The food taste for me was one of the most frustrating side effects, best wishes
Yes I found that too. I tried water with ice, that actually faired quite well and didn’t taste so vile. Robinsons cherries and berries, tea with sugar and orange juice were all ok at different times during my chemo cycles. Food was also difficult and when I found something I got on with I stuck to it. Babybels and coleslaw I went off but I have now been able to eat them again. When people asked I said food doesn’t taste right and also when I ate food felt scratchy - it was weird it felt like a cats tongue licking you when I ate. I know it’s a strange thing to say but it was the only way to describe how it felt. I’ve finished my chemo now and have been on radiotherapy and I still have that from time to time. Food and drink still don’t always taste great but hopefully it will start to come back to normal.
Wishing you all the best on your journey.

I’m thirsty but just cannot make myself drink any of my usual choices. Many thanks for your suggestions, I’ll get some cherries and berries to see it that’s palatable. Tea is just awful right now and so is coffee, though a friend has just recommended Camp coffee so I’m going to try that too. Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you, I hadn't thought of pineapple, but I’ll definitely get some and see how it tastes.
I have just had my first dose of EC a week ago. Tea definitely tastes horrible! I have found that iced coffee with a bit of milk was nice (not as bitter) and then this coffee shop put agave in one and it was lovely! Also my other cold drink I like is Nix and Kix watermelon and hibiscus also with ice. Holland and Barrett had them but then I just ordered more through Amazon.
Just remembered I used to have hot chocolate, Horlicks and ovalmatine too. All made with milk they actually went down well too.
