Lymph node removal

Hi I had my lymph nodes removed does that mean I can't have blood pressure and injections or blood taken in that arm

  • Yes, that was the information my BCN told me but also read it in leaflet. You are supposed to take care when gardening too not to get scratched that side.

  • I was advised to avoid using that arm in future but over the months have been told that if necessary it could be used as a last resort. I guess it may be tricky to avoid for the rest of my life! 

  • I had all mine removed yes it does mean you cannot have blood, blood pressure in that arm no more.  I wear a medical alert bracelet on that wrist to make sure I never forget , also mine is my left arm I was told to wear my watch on the right arm , also to wear sun tan cream with insect repellent in so if anything bites to stop it getting infected, the other warning I had was if I did have any infection type thing or insect bite on this arm and if it started to get bigger than a penny piece to get antibiotics to stop the infection because the lymph nodes are not there anymore , also wear gloves when gardening.
