Is there such a thing as letrozole withdrawal ? I stopped taking letrozole around 3 weeks ago after 7 years, a discussion with my consultant told me I  had 0% benefit from taking it. I am now experiencing breast pain in my left breast where I had lobular cancer I had chemo and rads. Anyone experienced this ?

  • Hi sugar65

While I don't have an answer to your question I noticed that you haven't had any replies yet so this reply should put you to the top of the discussion.

Hopefully someone will be along soon with an answer for you.

    Thank you

  • Hi

I can't answer your question but I am a year in to the Letrozole journey and with in weeks of taking it I got pain in my left non cancerous and only breast. I asked the breast nurse and she said the meds thin the tissue and make your breast less dense. So my thinking is maybe it works in reverse and that's what is causing your pain? Good luck with it all x

Thank you, maybe that is the case. I am thinking that maybe it my oestrogen levels picking up. I will call a breast nurse, hopefully she will put my mind at rest.

  • Don’t know about withdrawal   I have been on it for two years I find the side eff ts horrendous.  What made your consultant decide it was not beneficial anymore is it an age thing.   Xx

It seems to be a score thing it went by age type of cancer, size,, and pre or post menopausal when diagnosed also how long since diagnosis  my score  came out at 0.0%  benefit.

  • Did you get any withdrawal symptoms.  I have a fuzzy head and headaches. The joint pain is just about gone.   I will be starting tamoxifen in two weeks
