I've recently been diagnosed with BC and am being treated at a major hospital whose last review by the Care Quality Commission was not good. The current rating is "needs improvement" (problem areas include surgery and outpatients and 'safety' and 'effectiveness' both need improvement) ... AND the waiting room I am currently sitting in has a 1 star rating (out of 5) for cleanliness posted on the wall.
Has anyone been in a similar situation, worried about the safety of their care in their nhs hospital?
Hi Jackie P
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were recently diagnosed with breast cancer. While I have no concerns about the safety of my care in my hospital I noticed that you haven't had any answers yet so I thought I'd answer you to welcome you to the forum. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.
Best of luck with whatever treatment your medical team put you on.
Best wishes

Hi Jackie P welcome to the forum. I can understand why having seen that that you feel concerned. I am amazed that they have been so open as to post these results around the hospital, which may or may not indicate that they are taking that report seriously and trying to address the issues. How are you finding things yourself? Your experience may be very different from anything that is in the report and i would suggest that you keep a close eye on things and speak out about anything that you are not happy with right away with the staff.
I do appreciate what you are saying but see how your experience is and it may be ok for you despite what that report says.
Hi. Can I ask which hospital trust you are under? People might have experience of your particular hospital. I know my trust isn't the best but I have to say the care I have had from oncology side has been great. Must admit I had my surgery privately and I wanted the tumour gone asap and was able to get op within three weeks of diagnosis.
