Hi ladies me again. Has anybody had any experience using Newgel on scars. I have been using BioOil on my mammoplasty scars but find it leaves my skin oily and itchy. I saw Newgel Silicon cream for scar care and wondered if anyone had used this? I am also using antihistamines. The itching is driving me mad lol xxxx
Hello Rowliegirl, Sounds like you are allergic to Bio oil. I never found oils were moisturizing enough so don’t use them. I use Avene scar gel and also Mederma and both are silicone based. Scars from lumpectomies look great and the silicone gels are good. I think they are all pretty much the same ingredients. Itching makes me nuts and I have sensitive and eczema prone skin so need to be careful.
Take care and hope you stop itching. Hydrocortisone cream works great on the itch.

Thanks Barbara, I had a Boots gift card so just ordered some Moderna. Hope this helps. The antihistamines helped a bit but I now feel like a thousand ants running over my skin lol. It's enough to drive you mad isn't it. I thought I had got through the itchy stage but it has come back with a vengeance. Xxx
Hi ROWLIEGIRL , I use Palmers skin therapy oil which is cocoa butter based. I’m personally not a big fan of bio oil as it’s petroleum based which I try to avoid. During radiotherapy I used Aveeno cream and aloe Vera gel. I’ve carried on moisturising after shower/ bath even though I’m 4 years post op as I want to keep the skin in good shape. Had some skin and nipple issues during and after rads so feel it still needs nurturing! Xx
Thanks for the reccomendation. I will try these as I'm not getting on with the Bio Oil. Xxx
Oh yes the itching makes me crazy. Had a little during radiation but the hydrocortisone with calendula cream from Pro care really worked. Itch was gone almost as quickly as I applied it. Can your provider order you a prescription steroid cream for the itch if the OTC hydrocortisone doesn’t help?
