There seem to be a lot of vitamins and supplements that are helpful in some cancer patients but not others. I am wondering if there is any advice for quercetin and hormone positive breast cancer please?

  • Hello zephyr,  I don’t have any answers except I found an excellent article and it is about Vitamin C intake.  The catch is not from supplements but from dietary sources.  I have an appointment with a new medical oncologist and will ask him that question when I see him in a few weeks.  There is really nothing better than getting the protection from fruits and veggies.  I love beans too!

I will let you know he tells me anything.  I take a couple Brazil nuts everyday as that gives me selenium.

    Take care.

  • Hello zephyr,  I am not an expert on supplements as I try to get my vitamins/minerals from my diet which is plant based.  I have an appointment in a few weeks to see a new medical oncologist and I am going to ask him that question.  I did read about Vitamin C from food being researched and found to be protective but not from supplements.  I have sent you the link https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34635464/

I will post what I find out from the doctor.  I take 2 Brazil nuts daily to get my selenium and being plant based I do take vitamin B 12 and vitamin d supplements.

  • Most chemo drugs are processed through your liver and this supplement has a warning not to take it with anything that is processed through the liver. My oncologist was very specific, most supplements will not help you during chemo and some will potentially interfere with your treatment and make it less effective. He told me to run absolutely everything I intent to take past the him or the BC team for safety. All the best xx
