Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else on here has had a breast reduction on the 'good' side?
I had a lumpectomy to remove a mass totalling 5cm so am v lopsided now. My consultant has referred me to plastic surgery and feels that a reduction on the other side would be the best way of getting a vaguely matching pair. Would be interested to hear anyone's experience.
Many thanks!
I had surgery and radiotherapy a year ago, so a bit further down the road. I just want to be able to wear a decent bra and a T-shirt without feeling self-conscious. The consultant has also referred me to prosthetics, so I may decide to live with that instead. Xx
Hi, I had surgery to both sides - one to remove the two lumps and more which I was advised would reduce long tetm effects of radiotherapy. The other side to even up. Result is smaller on both sides and if there is any silver lining to this whole sh1tshow, it's that my boots are smaller and perkier!
I am a GG and had a mastectomy. Can reconstruct in a year if all is well but will need to reduce the remaining one. I’m actually quite keen to be a nice C or D as I’m sure it’ll be better for my back and easier to buy bras. If I can face that much surgery
Yes I'm a 34GG on the 'good' side, so that should be reduced to something like an E cup which will be great. I might even be able to buy nice bras finally ;-)
Hi DollyP, I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal February 2022. My right breast had 3 cancerous lumps largest 47mm. I was a size GG-H cup and was offered a bilateral mammoplasty to be done at the same time as the lumpectomy. They advised I would go down to around a DD and that's what I am a year on. Happy I had it done didn’t like the idea of having one breast GG and the other DD just wanted to get back to normal.
<span;>I have to say having smaller boobs for the first time in my life is different but good. Perky boobs at 60 not to be knocked, my plus side to breast cancer. Good luck with whatever you decide x
Hi Dolly, I'm 3 weeks post surgery. I was GG-H cup and they had gone south so I was very pleased when my surgeon offered me a reduction and lift with my lumpectomy and reduction/lift to the good side to even me up. Both were done at the same time with two surgeons working together. I'm really quite pleased with the result and happy to have smaller, perkier boobs for the first time since I was about 12! The silver lining to the black cloud of BC. I'm still a bit swollen, and will have RT to the affected side, so I don't know what the final result will be. At the end of the day, I'm just happy that the cancer has all been removed and I can move forward. My surgeon did say that if I do end up very uneven, there are options (further surgery to the good side, liposuction, fat transfer, etc) if I want it. Hope this helps and wish you well with your surgery. BTW, the scars look really good already.
Hello. I had 8.5cms cancer turmor removed from my right breast. Now waiting to complete 6 months chemo, then Radiotherapy before they will reduce my other. Have to say, rather proud of my smaller pert side, but definitely a wonky year for me.
Always look to the bright side, it's just all taking a little longer.
Take care
Thanks so much to everyone who has replied. It's really helped and I'm definitely going for the surgery option. Although we've been through the mill as a family (50 year old husband diagnosed with bowel cancer 8 months to the day after I had my diagnosis) I think I will feel much more confident and it will help me move on from our own personal annus horribilis! I'm a bit worried about telling our sons that I'll be going back into hospital, but they're now 18 and 16 and I think they will understand. I really really appreciated everyone's replies, especially as a local lady I know told me I was being 'vain' to consider additional surgery.
