Hi everyone
Just wondering if anyone has had or is having a similar experience? I finished chemo in September 2022 and my eyebrows and eyelashes don’t seem to be coming back? They are so thin, short and sparse and I am very concerned and overwhelmed that I am going to look like this forever?
Hi Xena it may be the Tamoxifen, I am on Letrozole and unfortunately this is what can happen. As we age the hair and eyebrows do thin, I had already been through the menopause and had noticed this effect. I went to a Look Good Feel Better session, it's a make up session as a group at my local Macmillan Centre. I know how to fill in the eyebrows but this was a useful session. Eyeliner helps if the eyelashes are space. Using non waterproof mascara is better for the eyelashes.
I take Collagen to help the hair, skin and joints. The Oncologist told me it was ok to do this. Don't be too downhearted, do something to make yourself feel better. I am 66 so prob much older than you. I even tried some wigs on although I am not quite at that stage yet. I did it to help my confidence. All this treatment is a big body blow. I refuse to be defined by cancer. We ladies got make up. Apparently the body adjusts eventually but if not who cares. Well that's what I tell myself. I'm still here, I'm not going anywhere except dancing today. Xxxx
Hi Xena, I used a serum for brows and lashes to help my regrowth and it helped a lot! I used the serum from Meme Cosmetics, but I think there are quite a few others out there!
Hi Xena, I’ve been recommended a serum from UK lashes. When I contacted them to ask if it could be used whilst on chemo they suggested I wait until I had finished before starting. I plan to buy this soon as it seems to have lots of great reviews.

Hmmm, probably by about 6 months after I finished chemo. I didn't lose all of my eyebrows during chemo, but they were thin on the ground. I found at first they naturally grew back, but they were more sparse than before. I neglected them a bit for a while as I was more focused on my head hair growth, but then I started using the serum and they quickly filled out. My cancer was triple negative, so I didn't take herceptin or tamoxifen x
