Hi. I.was.diagnosed with breast cancer in January and February I had a.lumpectomy. Then in March I had five days of higher  radiotherapy.   Feeling g low and uncomfortable with my body.   Any body feel the same? X

  • Hi Tabbyoz

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. It can take time to get used to the new you. There is an article by a Dr Peter Harvey called after the treatment finishes then what? Which perfectly sums up what it feels like after you finish treatment. I read it myself and found it very informative. Unfortunately I can’t send you the link to the article but if you look it up on google you should find it. You will also find plenty of support from Macmillan. You can ring the helpline on 0808 808 00 00

Wishing you the best of luck with the future.

    Best wishes

  • Hi daisy

thank you for the kind words. I also had my Coil removed a few weeks after my surgery so hormones are all over the place.

  • Hi, had my coil removed and HRT stopped, night sweats and emotions all over the place.  I have found that I feel funny about my body after every surgery I have had previously and not looking forward to my lumpectomy and how my breast will look after, but know deep down that however I look it will be worth it.  You got this xx

  • Hi. I know what you mean.  Ilost just over two stone then  put a stone back on with comfort eating  I was recently told that having the coil removed could cause weight gain

I am learning to love my body all over again x

  • Though I’m really struggling with finding things that I feel comfortable wearing.  Especially T-shirts xx

  • Hi Tabbyoz. I think we all go through this after treatment. It is mostly physical and partly psychological. I finished my radiotheraoy in November but only now that Spring is here am I starting to feel like me again. It is an up and down road but you will get there. I too put weight on from comfort eating but feel better now that I am doing more exercise. I am not sure we will ever  get our old selves back but things definitely seem more positive for me. Fingers crossed that you start feeling better soon.
