  • Hi everyone

I’m at wits end my plan has always been chemo radio and tamoxifen, had blioods done on Tuesday 4th for chemo starting Friday 7Th also went to an appointment on 5th to sign forms of consent and the doctor said he didn’t want me to have chemo due to health problems, coronary heart disease and diabetes to which I have none of these and told them so ,I broke down as in shock and actually went on own He then got consultant in and they tried to bully me into having radio tamoxifen and zoladex right there and then without discussing pros and cons , they basically turned my world upside down as I’d mentally prepared myself and family for chemo journey as it is a benefit which they offered , I was absolutely in shock and went on own as it was just to sign consent it was just horrific this thrown at me , I asked consultant if I weren’t healthy enough for chemo she actually said she thought I was healthy that wasn’t her concern yet it was when I first walked through the door from the wrong info they had , I refused to sign anything for new treatment as didn’t know enough and head was a mash they said they’d phone next day for my decision which they did and I said I wanted chemo as score came back at 23 and due to been pre menopausal and unde 50 anything over 16 chemo would benefit me hence why was always on my plan right from mdt meeting and offered me , he then said …wait for it …. Well  I can’t prescribe it  this was basically said 16hours before chemo to start , my heads a mess everything closed so getting back to Macmillan nurse on Tuesday when she’s back as she tried to get hold of them Thursday but was unable and think it’s appalling also

it has been the most stressful part of my journey so far it’s made me ill with anxiety and depression

any advice really would be welcomed

the doctor also told me he’d make me another appointment possibly could be three weeks time it’s already 83 days since I had op and still no treatment

many thanks for reading this if you are I’m just broken at the minute the way they have treated me

  • Hi Ginbin73, so sorry you have experienced such awful treatment. It is certainly not something you would expect. I’m glad you refused to sign anything. To be told you have a health condition that you don’t have is so bad, they must have had someone else’s records. Your history and plan would have been discussed with the MDT and as I understand it the consultant/doctor involved I thought would have been there too. Therefore they should have expressed their concerns so all could have been taken into consideration. Not sure why he can’t prescribe it ? My oncologist prescribes my chemo on the day if my bloods are ok. I think they need to re look at your case urgently and get your plan back in place. I hope your breast care nurse can help and move things on for you. Obviously it’s your decision but you could complain about your treatment too. I know you already have lots of your plate but the way you have been treated is appalling. I understand treatment plans can change as you go through your journey but when something like this seems to have got so wrong someone needs to be told. They can’t mess with your life.
Fingers crossed that things are sorted for you quickly and that you can get back on your original plan and start your chemo quickly.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to read this. You sound quite distressed, and that’s not good. Do you have someone who could go with you to an appointment, and write notes? It’s very hard to take it all in yourself. It sounds like there is a clinical decision for what they have decided, and you need to know what that is, and if it is correct. Hopefully your nurse will find out more on Tuesday. It’s awful when it’s over a bank holiday too, and when you feel like you have no control over the situation. Perhaps if you can arrange for someone else to be with you, and write a list of questions that you need answers to, this will help you feel a little more in control. Xx

  • It’s like a bad nightmare I can’t put into words how I’m feeling I just know they’ve put me in this situation and it’s made me mentally poorly and my pulse is through roof with anxiety , It’s bank hol so on Tuesday I’m straight intouch with my lovely Macmillan nurse who was trying desperately for me on Thursday to get hold of the consultant and doctor but to no avail she thinks it’s shocking too

    xx

  • My first port of call is getting appontment with consultant and if not resolved I’ll take it further but I’m seriously thinking about putting in a complaint by the way I’ve been treat xx

  • Oh my goodness, that’s awful and you understandably are really distraught at this confusion. When these things happen over a bank holiday it’s a nightmare - My diagnosis came over a bank holiday and I felt abandoned! You could always call the Macmillan support line- open 7 days a week 8am to 8pm 0808 808 0000. It might be helpful to talk to someone I’m thinking? I’m sure they can help worth strategies to manage the anxiety until Tuesday when you can speak to your lovely breast care nurse.

  • I’ve spoken to them this morning she basically said what I’m going to do and that’s speak with my Macmillan nurse again on Tuesday to get appointment with my oncologist and see what’s gone wrong with medical records and to sort treatment out she also mentioned pals so if sorted I’m still putting a complaint in as it’s basically cruel and inhumane what they’ve done to me last minute it’s really made me poorly l xx

  • I know it’s difficult but try not to let this take your power away. Use this next day to formulate your statements/questions and also put in a treat for yourself and savour every moment of it knowing you have got this and we have got you here!

I’m going to have a little tot of sherry on a bit (I know it’s an old fashioned drink). Why don’t you join me? Sake

  • Do remember you are entitled to both see and have a copy of your notes. Good luck xx

  • They refused to leescribe chemo and I want to know why they have this medical evidence in my files

    manybtah am xx

  • Thankyou lots xxx
