I have been told I need a mastectomy I can’t have radiotherapy as I had this 5 years ago, I can’t have reconstruction at same time as I have liver problems and consultant has advised NHS waiting time is 4/5 years but I can go private after 1 year once iv healed consultant said they will reduce size of other breast as I have large breasts, will this be done at same time as mastectomy. I have lots of questions to ask but at my appointment I was in shock I’m waiting to speak to breast nurse

So sorry to hear your situation. I had a mastectomy last May and also have large breasts and am deciding about reconstruction at the end of this year (I had radio so have to wait until a year after that). My advice would be to take/worry about one step at a time as the big picture gets overwhelming - and at every step you have to fight to recover well before the next thing.
