Hi
So it's 2 weeks after surgery, I have had an infected breast incision heamatoma which has been drained twice, now this has turned into an abcess. I have a seroma in my arm pit. I've had 3 types of antibiotics and today thry have put a vacuum style dressing on abcess in hope to drain it. And given me more antibiotics. More swobs taken.
Tired, fed up and just want to recover. Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just unlucky?
Thanku
Hi Helsx
Sorry you’re having a tough time.
I can empathise, I had a seroma, which was drained once, it came back but the doctors didn’t want to drain it again because of the risk of infection, and the likelihood of it just recurring. It did eventually go away of its own accord (it felt like forever, but actually took around 3 weeks). I did get an infection, not in the seroma but on part of the wound, which took a few weeks of dressings and antibiotics but luckily it cleared up.
Fully get the tired and fed up, but it sounds as if your team are working on it. Hope it sorts itself out soon.
