I had my surgery just over 3 weeks ago and had an appointment today Luckily all 8 of the lymph nodes they removed were negative for cancer. They are gonna do an oncotype DX test to decide if I need chemo or not. As well as hormone therapy and radiation therapy.
Does anyone know roughly how long the oncotype DX testing will take?
Hi lainia, I had my test after my mastectomy it normally takes about 2 weeks, good luck with the results.
Hi, I got the results of my Oncotype test a few weeks after my surgery. Mine came back low with a score of 15 so I did not need chemo.
I had 5 radiotherapy sessions and I’m now on hormone treatment for 5 years. Wishing you all the best xx
Hi Hun. Oncotype DX testing normally takes 2/3weeks to come back. It is scored 0/100. If you score 25 or above chemotherapy is recommended. Good luck x
Hi I'm waiting on this test coming back too. I meet the consultant on the 13th April so hoping they will have my results as it will have been nearly 5 weeks since I was last at hospital for my surgery results. I'm going to have 10 years of hormone therapy as well as radiotherapy.
I'm nearly 7 weeks post surgery and was able to go back to work after 4 weeks. The BC nurse was rather surprised when I said I wanted to go back! She did say she was okay with it only because I'm sitting down all shift! I asked my work about a phased return and started at 2 days the 1st week, 3 days for the 2nd and 3rd week (should have been 4 days but the office was closed for bank holiday). I will say I've been shattered but I'd rather be tired knowing I'm having a little normality!
Hopefully you get your results soon
Hi, I got my results last week. I scored 26 so right on the upper limit of a moderate result. Was given the choice of what I wanted to do and decided to go with the chemo (as recommended by the consultant) since 1 more point and it would have been a high benefit. Looks like I'll be starting chemo next week or the week after - I've to get a heart scan done 1st.
Hope you get your results soon x
Gosh my resare in and go and see consultant Friday to find out what they are. Good luck with your next steps. Xx
