Has anyone started taking this chemo drug which I am about to start.?? I will be on it for 2 yrs for the prevention of breast cancer returning.   I know everyone is different but what are the immediate side effects? Anything like EC or Docetaxel? Will be on it for 2 years

Zoledronic acid/bisphosonates - 3yrs :- once every 6months

Then I will be also starting letrozole and will be on it for 10 years.

Got bone density tests next monday plus phone call from hospital to tell me more.

Thank you

Zad

  • Hi, I have Benn taking for 7 months, it's not a chemo. There are some threads already about abemaciclib & side effects.

Main ones for me, stomach cramps, diarrhoea & fatigue

I am also having Zoldronic acid infusions & anastrozole tablets, which are similar to letrozole

    Best wishes x

  • Yes I’m on the same plus monthly zoladex injections to make me menopausal.  Nothing like chemo.  Some joint pain and a bit of constipation from the Letrozole, flu like symptoms for 48 hours after thCryzoledronic acid, just finished my first month on Abemiclib and I’m tired and I’ve had 5 bouts of diarrhoea over the four weeks and the odd bout of stomach cramps and loose stools but nothing dreadfuCryor unmanageable.  My bloods were good to start the next months cycle but my white blood cells are going down - it’s not unusual from others I’ve met in clinic for that to happen and to need to delayCry cycle but hopefully it’ll pick up by itself without intervention.  Everyone is different but I’m not finding it as bad as I’d expected.  I’d give a lot for some more energy though… but we’ve been tCryough so much to get to this stage it’s hardly surprising if we shatteredCry.  No idea where those emojis came from - hope it goes well for you.
