Hello

54 yrs old.

Went to the GP with lumps under my arm. Sent to breast clinic 6th March 2023 where they carried out ultra scan, mammogram and biopsy. Returned to the hospital last Wednesday, 15/03/23 to be told I have a stage 1 16mm invasive ductal tumour testing 8/8 for both estrogen and progesterone. Had mag seed and dye inserted, another scan and mammogram. The lumps under my arm are nothing. Immediately taken off of my HRT patch. My op is booked for 4/4. Lumpectomy and a few lymph nodes. I have not had my HE2 results yet as they were not back. Definitely having Radio therapy and hormone blockers. Will not know about chemo until after the operation. Such a worrying shock. Good luck to all x

  • Hello Dottykc,  I certainly understand that it is a lot to take in when you get the diagnosis of breast cancer.  So sorry that you are dealing with all of this as it can feel overwhelming until you know more results.  Sounds like you are moving ahead though.   I also had been on HRT and was using pellets therapy so off that too as my cancers were Estrogen and progesterone positive 100%.  I am sure you will have  Oncotype DX test done on your tumor as your tumor was larger than 5mm.  They do it on tumors that are ER Positive and HER2 negative.   That will help to decide if you will benefit from chemotherapy.
This site is wonderful as we all understand what you are going through and the women are all willing to share their experiences and give support.

I live in Florida so do notice some differences in some things but also many similarities too.
Wishing you the best.  Hugs to you.

  • Thank you so much Barbara xx

  • Sounds very similar to my diagnosis. I had op in September and radiotherapy in November. It is good that it is early stages but you are being treated very quickly. It is a very tough road mentally but you will come through this. Take care.
