Hi everyone,
My breast cancer journey began 4 years ago, I noticed a small dimple in my left breast, it was cancer, I had a lumpectomy 4 weeks of radiotherapy ,tamoxifen and yearly mammograms...
Unfortunately the cancer is back after 4 years,
2 weeks ago I had a left sided mastectomy.....I've just been told I will need chemotherapy.....
I have so many things going round in my head!!
How could it come back?
I did everything I was told...
Sorry for the rant, I suppose I'm still processing
Hi LisaM
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you cancer has come back. No need to apologise for the rant it’s perfectly understandable that you are having a hard time processing that it’s back.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment when it starts.
Best wishes

Sorry to hear your cancer is back. Even in the last 4 years there are new treatments with promising results. Rant all you like, it’s a natural reaction and you’ve done nothing wrong. Best wishes for a favourable outcome and there are a lot of supportive people on here so keep in touch and good luck. Xx
Hi Lisa
Sorry the cancer has come back after 4 years , that really sucks and it’s absolutely not down to anything you’ve done or haven’t done , it’s just crappy !
You’ll be well supported here , all the best with your treatments
Keep chatting
love L xx
Hello Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear that the breast cancer has reoccurred. I can only imagine what a shock it was to hear that news. Hope you are healing well from the mastectomy too.
The recurrence has nothing to do with anything you did or didn’t do. Sometimes there are some cancer cells that are resistant to treatment and they can grow in time. That really sucks and it doesn’t happen often but we don’t know who it will affect.
I know you will get excellent care and just want you to know that venting how you feel is good to do. We are here for you.

Hi Lisa
I am so sorry you are back to having treatment for breast cancer. None of us know what lies ahead and this must be a nightmare for you. No professional can ever promise that the cancer will never come back so it is just awful when it does after you have followed all the guidelines. We are all here for you on your journey. Good luck.
Hi Lisa
You feel free to rant it is what this site is for to support and help you cope .
So sorry to learn you have another fight on your hands, it must be so tough. We none of us know for sure and recurrence is a horrible dread constantly lurking in our heads.
Add chemo in the mix and it all seems tougher but you will do it and find that strength again.
I had chemo and I have to say not always easy but do able with lots of help and support from medical team s and family/friends. Maybe it's what is needed to finally get rid of this awful disease for you.
My thoughts are right with you keep fighting on sending big hugs xx
