Hi to you all, I’ve had two rounds I’d chemo for breast cancer and found that my heart rate is very fast all the time, dies anyone else suffer with this

  • I wear a FitBit and during chemo I found there were days when I did very little yet it was recording huge amounts of “activity” at a faster heart rate.  And I did get breathless and aware of my heart walking up hills though I took lots of breaks.  At one point I had a lung scan to check for clots but it was clear - at that point I was a bit breathless just walking down the corruption chemo. Please chat to your team - and log your symptoms day to day - mine had a definite pattern for a few days then back yo normal.

  • Good morning, I had my second chemo yesterday and I had fast heart rate too. It happened 3 day after my first one as well, I reported to my oncologist but he didn't say anything specific. You have palpitation or not, they need to check your heart regularly. You should have an appointment for that, if you haven't yet, please ask your team. Hope you'll be fine, best luck x

  • I’m just on my 2nd cycle and have the fast heart rate/palpitations and also breathlessness on walking upstairs , seems to settle after first week , I was asked about this at appt and it was just noted , not sure how regularly heart checks are , had one before starting chemo  ,

  • Hi

My heart rate has been rapid throughout my chemo and has continued.  I’ve had 8 sessions and have now finished.  It’s still high and after speaking with radiotherapy they have said I need thyroid checking which I will.  3 weeks after last chemo I am still breathless.

  • Hi Meandm, I found my heart rate was up for three days after chemo and whilst I was taking various meds that I was prescribed. I did speak to the MacMillan hotline who were able to put my mind at rest. It did settle after I had finished them. I get it each time. Now I’m on Phesgo and docetaxel I found my heart rate went way high after my first Phesgo but it did settle again after about 24 hours. As I was at the hospital at the time they were able to check and confirm it was just that. I would make sure you have a chat with your oncologist or even the hotline as they will be able to advise.

  • Hi   I’ve also had this, my Apple Watch keeps alerting me that my heart rate has increased even if I am sitting on the sofa! It goes back to normal after a short while and does it a few times over a couple of days then nothing until I have chemo again! The nurses haven’t been worried so I assume it’s fairly normal!

  • Thankyou, most reassuring I don’t half worry about everything xx
