Hi I went to my 1st appointment last week and the doctor said to me that I have 2 very suspicious masses on my left breast and that it is cancer. My next appointment isn't until the 2nd march and I will be getting my results in the post. And then they will discuss with me my results and treatment on the 2nd. Is this what normally happens? Update I got my results yesterday by post I have M5 and U5
I think all centres are different. When I was referred by GP I had mammogram. Something obviously showed up as I was called back in for a scan. The radiologist did a biopsy and told me a small lump looked suspicious and could be cancer. I had a follow up appointment seven days later where it was confirmed early stage cancer. At that appointment a date was arranged for my operation. I was lucky as it all happened fairly quickly but I know from reading other messages that some areas have longer waits between appointments. I know it is a horrible time waiting for appointments and all you want is to get treatment started. Hope it all goes well.
Hi thankyou for your reply Evajean it's horrible waiting everyday waiting for the postman doesn't help with the post being behind at the moment. I have received my next appointment for the 2nd of March to discuss results. I got my 1st appointment quick and they did scan and biopsy all on the 1st day so they were quick.
Kind regards
Hi they did say they will post results and that I will probably get my appointment before the letter I was supposed to go to see them today but they changed it to the 2nd of March I think they forgot to give me an appointment for today as I phoned them early this week to confirm a time. I do find it a bit weird them saying the results will be sent in the post would be better face to face.
Kind regards
Hi Bettyboop43, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. To get results in the post seems rather odd. I would have expected a face to face appointment for the doctor to discuss everything and have a plan in place ready and also to be able to give you guidance and reassurance. I get all doctors and areas are different but I don’t think posting something so sensitive and important as this the right thing. Obviously this is just my opinion and others may feel differently. If I had received my results in the post it would have given me details to Google and I would have been reading a lot of information (of which is very outdated now) and by the time I saw the doctor I would have been a complete mess. Please try to avoid Googling anything until you have spoken with your doctor.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.

Hi
I had an appointment to discuss results after biopsy and letter came after. Results shouldn’t really be sent before as you need explanation in full. Fingers crossed it goes this way.

Are these results from your mammogram and ultrasound? If so, they should now biopsy the masses. The biopsy should give a definite diagnosis.
Hi I had mammogram and ultrasound and biopsy all on my 1st appointment and then got letter through post I have my appointment this week to discuss results and treatment it's bad that they sent me results before appointment
