Hello All, I am an active reader on this forum but don’t often comment etc. so many lovely people on here.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has had their chemo stalled to get over a virus or cough/cold etc and what did it involve?

I have had a rotten cough for over 6 weeks and now laryngitis. Was put on antibiotics last week which has really helped the cough and left me with the laryngitis. BCN has advised today to have another week off chemo and rest my voice as best I can. I know this is the right advice but feel so so deflated and fed up…. I only have 4 chemos left and was counting them down. Had been doing so well Up until now……Am also worried about the effect of a 2 week gap on my prognosis and treatment. BCN says it makes no difference. I have/had grade 2 , stage 3 Triple positive breast cancer. Have had lumpectomies and will have radiotherapy too.

Would welcome any tips or advice from you all. Sending love Heart️

  • Hi, sorry to hear you've developed laryngitis, that sounds rough. I never had chemo delayed, but I did have some delays in my phesgo treatments and the oncologist said this was nothing to worry about.  She had also told me that from time to time the bloods might not be ok for chemo and that a delay wouldn’t¡t be an issue so I think it's generally accepted this happens from time to time.  Hope you feel better soon

    1. Thanks so much for responding. You have reassured me. It’s such a play on the mind when things change suddenly isn’t it? Hope your treatment flows better soon too. Take care x
  • Hi my second EC was delayed by one week due to a bad cold and my bloods showed both liver function test and CRP were borderline which indicated a slight infection. So not to put me at any risk of getting ill the oncologist suggested a delay. Bloods the following week were perfect so number 2 EC went ahead. Number 3 this week. Was gutted my planned out schedule was destroyed by dose 2 but it is what it is. You just have to go by the blood tests and the advise.
