Hi guys.
Has anyone out there had this issue and found an alternative AI and was ok with. Short story. Been on tamoxifen for 21 months. Had no issues at all until last August. My Achilles’ tendon is so painful in one leg. I have a lump on it. I’ve not injured it and I’ve now found out that any Oestrogen inhibitors can cause this. I’ve just had a new knee In the opposite leg and the tendon is more painful than that. I really don’t want to stop taking the tablets but may have to as it can rupture. Anyone stopped the tablets and if no alternative did they change diet to anti oestrogen helping foods etc.
really don’t want the dreaded back but I had a new knee at 58 so I can become more active again and that’s really important to me but scared to stop taking the tablets. I have a scan Thursday on my tendon.
thanks for reading
Hi I’m also taking Tamoxifen for Oestrogen positive BC been taking for about 10months now. I started suffering with a painful Achilles Tendon last June had no idea it can be connected to the hormone inhibitors until I came across your chat. I’ve had a scan on it and like you it’s got several lumps on it some days are worst than others I’m waiting on scan results and have had treatment from my chiropractor but it is not really getting any better. I am 56 and find exercising difficult because of the pain it causes in my Achilles and other joints. Have also thought about stopping but super scared of a reoccurrence. Sorry not much help but just wanted you to know that you’re not alone in your symptoms and thoughts. Take care x

Hi. Thanks for replying. I’ve had my scan. It’s not torn but moderately inflamed. I’ve some exercises from the physio. I also have small ganglions on one finger another side effect of AI. Some people get trigger finger. It’s all down to collagen depletion. I have been advised to eat collagen rich food. I’m told not to take collagen in tablet form as not sure if can cause BC issues.
let me know how you get on and if you find anything that helps. It can be quite debilitating. I did get relief when I stopped the tamoxifen for 4 weeks whilst I had my op.
keep in touch
xx
