Diagnosed with DCIS and tiny IDC HER+ and ER+

Hi I have had two wide excisions and a sentinel node biopsy . Results came back as DCIS grade 3 and 2 mm IDC Er+ and HER2  + . A further tissue sample has been sent for a second opinion. My first oncology meeting advised radiotherapy 5 sessions and Letrazole. However have now been told to wait for radiotherapy until the results to come back as I may need further surgery! My surgeon said it was benign but the oncologist said it was Pleomorphic LCIS. Does anyone have any experience of this? Feeling quite confused.

  • What does the pathology report say?

  • This is all I have been told. Second op was to clear margins and more tissue was biopsied then sent to another lab for a second opinion. That was over 3 weeks ago and they still haven’t had results back.  Surgeon said it was benign but oncologist said it was Pleomorphic LCIS.
I am also a Bit concerned they have ignored the fact  that IDC is  HER2 + albeit it only small and no treatment for this is necessary.

  • Hi Susie2468, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I’ve not heard of no treatment necessary especially for IDC and HER2 positive. I had idc grade 3 and was triple positive and am having treatment at the moment with targeted treatment for the HER2 . I think I would get back in contact with your both your surgeon and oncologist to ask for the full pathology report for both your Pelomorphic LCIS (sorry I’m not sure what this is) and your IDC with HER2 positive and ask them to clarify things for you.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.

    • Hello Susie,  I agree with cuffcake2000 about no treatment for Her2+.  I have never heard of it.  Seems like there is a disconnect somewhere so if you can get the pathology report and then take it to them and ask questions about treatment plan.
Take care and hope you can get it all sorted out with the docs.
