Hello

I gave finished chemo, had lumpectomy and starting radiotherapy in the new year  I am now cancer free after the biopsy results from surgery.  My Diagnosis was  Gd 2 ER3 PRO HER2 positive.

I am to have Herceptin inj  for 9 months , however initially they did not consider I should need  hormone blockers due to the 3/8  hormone level of my Diagnosis.  I was pleased with this as I suffered badly with menapause before Diagnosis and was on HRT. The thought of any estrogen  my body may still be producing being blocked was not something I relished!

I ve now been told by one oncologist that I should take  Tamoxifen for 5 years . If I have any issues he ll look at changing the Estrogen blocker. Another oncologist has said to take for 2 wks, see how I feel and if an issue stop taking it.

My question to the forum is if anyone else with a 'low positive '  hormone receptor has been asked to take a blocker. I hear and read  such awful things about Tamoxifen and am aware of the  documented issues of not having enough estrogen . I am 56 .

Many thanks in advance
