Hi there, I'm currently coming towards the end of my EC treatment and will be due to start paclitaxel in about 4 weeks. I'm just interested to know how people who have been through the 12 weeks found it. Currently my treatment day is Friday which wipes out my weekend after my EC dose and am I concerned that I'm going to lose all my weekends for the next 3 months. Would.love to hear how people felt in the immediate few days after the doses.

Thanks

  • Hi

I have had 9 of 12 weekly sessions of paclitaxel after 3 cycles of EC.

I find that I'm very tired on the evening of having the infusion but feel okay when I wake up the next morning. The only side effects I've had on pax was a change in taste for a couple of days afterwards but other than that I've found it a lot easier than EC.

  • Hi

I also had EC followed by fortnightly paclitaxel, which apparently is a bigger dose than weekly paclitaxel.  I found it a lot easier than EC.  In fact, I woke up the morning after my first paclitaxel and was amazed to discover I felt completely normal.  I felt a bit tired and achy around day 5, but otherwise fine.  Hope you find it equally tolerable.  Best of luck x

  • The first 2 days seem to be the best due to the steroids they give you. ie more energy. So maybe a friday infusion is a good day! Day 4 seems to be my bad day.

  • Thanks this is really helpful!

  • I had an upset stomach and felt tired for the first couple of dats but not totally wiped out or unable to do anything - just conscious about wanting a nice loo near by!  By around week 9 I was starting to get joint aches and pains towards the end of the week but not enough to stop me doing things - unpleasant at night though.

  • Thanks, this is really helpful.

  • Thanks for your reply, it really appreciated.
