Hi anyone suggest which cream is best for soreness etc. Having treatment on right breast and chest
I used Aveeno as a general moisturiser, but if you have blistering as a reaction to the radiotherapy then the radiologists can give you something specifically for it.
Funnily enough I have just been chatting to the radiologist who phoned to give me briefing about the start of my radiotherapy on Monday. I asked her about moisturising and she said to do it morning and evening. Asked me what I was using and I said Aveeno. She said that was fine. I did read on another post that alo vera gel was good if your boob gets sore especially if you keep the aloe vera in fridge.
Hi Mere,
I have just had my last radiotherapy session yesterday. I’ve been using Aveeno twice daily for a few weeks and they’ve advised me to continue with that.
At the end of my last treatment they gave me a treatment plan in case of a skin reaction ( a copy has also been sent to my GP) it is very detailed for each stage and with it I feel like I’m confident that if any reaction occurs I’ll get treatment pretty quickly. There was also an advice sheet given on my first day and they’ve told me to continue with this. I also have numbers to ring if I’m worried but they said to ring GP first. I get a follow up phone call in two weeks and then appointment with oncologist in 4-6 weeks. I received all of this information yesterday at last session so hopefully you will receive the same when you start your treatment.
I hope that helps you in some way. Good luck for your treatment, I hope it goes well.

Good luck for Monday, the treatment itself is nothing and over quite quickly. The daily travel to the hospital is tiring depending on how far away you are. At the minute I feel ok, just my boob is a bit pink and slightly tender. I have some aloe Vera ready in the fridge and also I drank loads ( as advised by people on the forum) to help with the tiredness.
Take care of yourself and good luck x

Hi Mere, sorry, yes in case of a any skin reaction.
They have said that tiredness may start after treatment and peak at about 2 weeks after and then start to subside. Someone on another post advised me to drink loads and it might help with any tiredness.
When do you start your treatment? I’m asked about Aveeno at my planning scan as I’d bought some E45 but it wasn’t really suiting my skin.

I had my radiotherapy planning session on Tuesday and they told me to be careful to ensure any moisturiser I used was fully absorbed from my skin before the sessions. If you have a layer on your skin it increases the risk of burning. With morning radiotherapy, I got the sense it was best to shower in the morning, not moisturise, moisturise when I got home from radiotherapy and again before going to bed. I have been using Aveeno on the dry cracks I have between some of my toes from chemo, and will use that after my radiotherapy too.
