Hi

Had surgery over 2 weeks ago

Struggling mentally and physically

Trying to do normal things,  but my body telling me to slow down

Not sleeping great , and not back to work yet have a very physical job so no chance there yet

Any advice please

Get My results in 4 days and thats playing on my mind abit I think

Thanks x

  • Just give yourself time to heal physically & mentally.  I took 5 months off work from biopsy to finishing radiotherapy.  I needed that time to focus on my well being.  As my daughter would say "it's a marathon not a sprint" xx

  • Thank you

I think because iam self employed it's playing on my mind a bit

  • It must be hard for those of you still working. There is no easy solution to this waiting game. I remember waking in the middle of the night and just crying. Once I got my results, which were good, it got easier but still get anxious about appointments. Starting to get anxious about Monday when I start radiotherapy. I know I will be fine but just my stupid brain goes off on a tangent. Hope your results are good.

  • Hi cookieminster i had same procedure as you 6 oct and i feel the same, still dont sleep very well due to it being on the left side which happens to be the side i sleep on. I still get some pain in my breast (heavy feeling along with super sensitive nipple) along with itching scar from the node biopsy but it has got better, waiting for the results is the worst, thats all we spend our time doing is waiting...  im back in for a mastecomy later today and node removal, as no clear margins and 2 of 3 nodes were cancerous. We are all just one step closer...put a pillow under your arm at night that has helped me x hope your results are good x

  • Hi

It's always on your mind when waiting for results

Try to take it easy you have been through a lot and it's bound to play on your mind

I was the same at the start of treatment but over a year dowm the line feeling loads better

I know you said you said your self employed which will make it harder for you but check if any financial help for you.

Have you tried the heart shape pillow? You can buy them online, it really does help, I still use it

Let us know how you go with your results, I'll keep everything crossed for you

Take care and rest when you can (maybe read a good book)

  • Hi so sorry your going through this. I have triple negative breast cancer grade 3 had my first round of chemo last week I am also self employed so its been really difficult  to focus. I went back to work after week when I had the lumpectomy its been mentally and physically draining so I really understand how you feel. Please give you body and mind the rest it needs x

  • Hi  I had same operation on 17th October.  I still not sleeping very well.  Breast sore but its under my arm that's giving me the most problems it feels like I have burn marks only way I can describe it.  Don't do too much we have to take it easy.  Hope your results are OK.

  • Hi cookie monster, my first post in here. Like you I had lumpectomy and lymph node removal 2 weeks ago. Waiting on results but not quite sure when I get them. I’m also self-employed and know I haven’t taken enough of a break - it’s tough! You want to work while you can because you don’t know what’s ahead, I completely get the worry of it.

I’m sore under my arm from lymph node removal, that’s the worst bit of pain for me. And of course worrying about what’s next, but mostly just trying to keep positive and balance work/rest a bit better!
