I had 4 x EC and 11 weekly Taxol which finished 6 weeks ago. The last weekly taxol was cancelled because I started to get some strange sensations in my legs. Since finishing chemo and having surgery, the sensations in my legs have got worse. It's like a buzzing sensation and almost feels as though I've been plugged into the electricity, it's there pretty much constantly and especially at night. My oncologist thinks that it's peripheral neuropathy and insists that I must have had some signs of it in my feet, but I haven't. He's hopeful that it'll go eventually but at the moment it's making me feel really uncomfortable when I walk, like everything is such an effort. I don't have any pain or numbness anywhere, just the annoying buzzing sensation. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I'm taking amitriptyline which so far hasn't done anything to help. It's so annoying that I got through chemo doing lots of walking and a bit of running and now I feel ruined!
Hi
I just wanted to comment to say that i havnt had pain in my leg but in the ladt week my right arm has become really sore. Theres been an increased tightness around my scar, arm, and shoulder for a while but more recently its the inside of my armgoing down towards my wrist.
I spoke to gp, very difficult conversation over the phone as could hardly hear. She wasnt concerned said nerve damage or neuropathy and it will pass..... which is great but at moment its really affecting me. Firstly she gave me amytriptaline said this would help the pain and my terrible sleeping pattern. It did nothing, took 1 two hours before bed was still awake at 2.45 and pain still there. Shes since given me pre gablin only been taking since friday but no real change and certainly no help with sleep.
I have been discharged from radiotherapy consultant, havnt hearf from bteast care nurse or surgeons in months and oncology appointment is December!
Its really hard trying to stay motivated each day when theres a constant level of pain. You hope more than a year on things will be settling down. Good luck xx
Hi
Have you seen a physio as it may be something called cording ? They give you stretches and massage which I find really helps if done a couple of times a day.i think you can self refer.
It just goes on doesn't it. I had op chemo and radiotherapy all with problems. Now after finishing radiotherapy in June I have developed tightness under arm and chest wall so still doing all I can re exercises to try and sort it. I do feel you are left a bit in limbo when treatment done but still so many worries and queries. Hope you get some relief soon ️
Hi. So sorry you are suffering so much.Totally agree about phone appointments, I hate them.I was prescribed amytriptaline for frozen shoulder eighteen months ago. They don’t seem to take effect immediately but my GP said I could take two. They really zonked me out but helped me sleep. I would definitely try them again with two tablets. Having said that make sure on the leaflet that it says two ok as I suppose there are different strengths, mine were 10 mgs.
