I am now almost 6 weeks post double mastectomy. I’m finding my scar quite tight and am wondering has anyone any recommendations for cream to help loosen it up? I am looking forward to starting to exercise etc again and I’ll need the scar to be a little less uncomfortable to do this.
Hello MamaH, I am no expert but you may need scar tissue release or massage to help loosen it up. There are scar gels that help to reduce appearance of scar but I think the hands on would help you get feeling better quickly so you can exercise again. Good luck.

Thanks Barbara. I’ll speak to my surgeon and see what they can offer.

I went to OT in the hospital she massaged the scar with and without cream. She also used a machine to pull othe scar tissue to try and release it. I wish I had been told to massage the scar/tissue when I had my op as it became very tight six months on. Swimming helps and did the exercises to stretch it. One good exercise is lie down turn knees to the left and head and arm to the right stretching your arm. Do it on both sides if bilateral.
