Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of July, and I’m currently waiting for my surgery for what we hope is stage 1 bowel cancer (9th November). I’m only 24 so this has been so hard to deal with. I’m currently undergoing fertility treatment to freeze my eggs. Around a week ago I found a hard lump on my right breast towards the armpit. It’s firm, round and moveable, maybe around 2/3 cm like a cherry. I’m booked in my dr this week to get it checked out but I feel so sick with worry that I now have a different cancer additional to my bowel. Is it possible the fertility drugs could cause this? I’m also just finishing my period. I also had a CT for my bowel cancer in august, so I’m hoping if this was cancerous it would’ve been picked up there? Just need some reassurance as I feel so sick with worry and can’t stop crying
Thank you, I’ve managed to get an emergency appointment with my dr this afternoon so hopefully they can refer me for a scan asap or offer me some insight as to what it feels like as I have no idea on the different types of lymph and bumps! I left a vm for the colorectal team this morning asking for perhaps a scan on my pre op day friday but haven’t heard anything since. Xx
Thank you, I’m in this afternoon to see my dr and I left a voicemail for my bowel team. Really hope it’s just nothing some fatty tissue or a harmless cyst, and it’s just my anxiety taking over! Just wish I didn’t have to deal with this right now on top of everything else xx
Thank you! I do have a great support group but I feel sometimes they just think it’s my anxiety talking which is probably is, but I don’t imagine symptoms there is deffo a lump but my brain just jumps to the worst conclusion each time! I’m praying it’s just hormones but in this pm with the dr xx
Hello Leighsp, I am sending all my positive energy to you as I know you are dealing with a difficult situation. Lumps don’t always turn out to be serious but you are doing the right thing and having it evaluated. I wish you a speedy recovery in your upcoming surgery and you are young and strong so that will help you too.

Thank you! I met with my gp today who said she isn’t concerned, and it’s also very mobile which I’m hearing is a good sign? She mentioned cysts and fibroadenomas. The bowel team are on the case for me and they’re going to keep chasing the breast team and hopefully we can get in before surgery! I was also presxribed some anti anxiety meds so hoping that will take the edge of but can’t shake the feeling until I have that appointment :(
I'm so glad you got seen quickly, hopefully a scan and mammogram will confirm what ghd GP thinks. Keep us posted. Sending you positive vibes.
Also, just to say.....my Mum also had surgery for bowel cancer, she is almost 13 years clear. It's daunting when you are facing the start of thd journey. Surround yourself with positivity. Good luck with your op xxx
Good for you that you have experts on your side. It is such a stressful time going through all this cancer stuff!! I had a lot of anxiety too and it is totally normal but glad you have some medicine to take the edge off.
