HELP, really really suffering from horrendous sickness and not sleeping tablets have been changed but really struggling any suggestions that could help me Pensive

  • Hi, so sorry to hear this. Difficult on a Sunday evening, but would suggest talking to your breast nurse tomorrow about anti sickness meds, I tried 3 different types before finding what worked best for me.  Try to keep your fluids up, even sips of water, and sometimes dry crackers can be good to keep down.  Hoping you feel better soon, it's horrible I know.

  • Thank you for your reply, I am taking fluids and eating small amounts every 2 hrs but nothing seems to help definitely contacting nurse first thing as have no energy and lack of sleep, thank you again x

  • As above, contact nurse…but in the meantime, drink fluids, sleep when you want…if hungry…just eat….anything! Joy

  • I was one of the unlucky ones that actually vomited for my first chemo cycle (and you don't want to start as it is almost impossible to stop - I had to be hospitalised and get an IV of anti-sickness). They gave me stronger ant-sickness pills to take on top of everything else for subsequent cycles and although I still felt sick for the first week on EC, it did stop me vomiting,

If you can try and rest as much as possible and catch sleep when you can - day or night - then at least you won't be putting too many demands on your body. I found very bland food was all I could stomach for the first few days or so.

For subsequent cycles, I made sure I didn't do much for the first few days and then I started to feel a lot better. I worked from home from about Day 6 so it does get better!

I had EC and docetaxel and found it was only EC that made me feel sick (docetaxel had lots of other side effects instead!)
