Hi I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes biopsy last Monday. I already had a family holiday booked for December to Caribbean. Has anyone gone on holiday in between surgery and waiting for radiotherapy to start.
Hi Poucha welcome to the forum and glad to hear that at least part of the journey is over for you. Im not sure whether a rethink about that timing of the holiday may be needed, as when you get the results back, it will depend on the results as to whether you need more surgery, if they haven't taken enough tissue as an example, or the lymph nodes show Cancer, more nodes will need to be taken and then treatment plans could change and could involve chemo. Its all a bit of a waiting game I think which doesn't help you much in making this decision.
There may be issue in respect of travel insurance which may need relooked at since your diagnosis and Im not sure if anyone has said this for you or not?
Sorry not to be more joyful but I always feel it is better to be honest with you. xxxx
I had mastectomy September. Holiday to Caribbean pre booked for November. Luckily oncotype low so no chemotherapy. Surgeon and oncologist agree...go on holiday and start radiotherapy when back. They are trying to get my planning scan done before I go but assure me that a delay in starting treatment won't make any difference. Life is for living x
