Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with DCIS. 26mm in right breast. I am now awaiting a lumpectomy on 3rd of November which will be followed by radiotherapy if they get clear margins. I am very overweight, diabetic and have high blood pressure and I'm petrified of surgery under general anesthetic. I don't want 3rd Nov to me my last day!

  • Hi Diane.  The end is not nigh!  You will have a pre op assessment where they will take into account your health issues to ensure surgery is as safe as can be.  Click on my name and you'll see I'm 7 years on from my DCIS diagnosis.  I am type 2 diabetic too.  I managed to lose weight and keep it off by severely restricting my carbs.  Trouble is I dislike eating meat !    Good luck with surgery x
