Hi
i am starting ec chemo tomorrow after 12 weeks of paclitaxel with carboplatin. I have triple neg breast cancer stage 2a
i am so worried about side effects has anyone had this treatment. ? Any advice welcome
thanks Jane
Thanks - round too next week for me & not looking forward to it but the first one has actually been relatively ok so far - let’s see what next week brings
I hope the injection ache & pains settle down for you soon. I’ve been taking cetirizine about an hour before and I’ve been doing ok with them but I see though that loratadine is also recommended so either is deffo worth a shot.
I checked this with the doc and she assured me that it won’t do any harm anyway. Anything is worth a shot to make this whole crap storm we find ourselves in more bearable!!
take care xxx
I don't think it will do any harm. I was told specifically to take loratadine, not any other antihistamine. I don't know if its right or wrong, but it did seem to help. I bought some electric heat pads to wrap around my achy legs.I thought it was all those steroids that wrecked my thigh muscles, but I guess it could have been filgastrim. The good news is that it gradually went away once chemo and steroids stopped. I always found counting down to the finish line helped a lot too xx
Just to say thanks for everyone’s advice. I have had some bad days since my first EC when I found it really hard to walk and I had really bad back pain and thigh pain. I put it down to the fillagrastim but I had my last injection this am and have found my pain greatly reduced today. So maybe it’s just reaction to the EC which is easing off as it’s noe 6 days since the treatment. Anyway I do feel better so feeling much better at least for today xxx
Not sure if this will help for future, but I was always told by my oncologist to do the figraststim an hour before bed, that way the majority of the aches were through the night when I was resting and sleeping and they would affect me less and true to her word they are much easier to cope with, by the morning the worst of the aches I feel if I wake in the night are at bay. May be worth a try? X
Yes, I was advised to have mine in the evening. I find a hot water bottle helps and easy to rest in bed x
