Anti Anxiety meds and Exemestane

Hello

Has anyone taken Exemestane with an anti anxiety medication and if so did you feel better?

4 years on I still have long periods were I am very anxious and have panic attacks. I’ve tried everything: exercise, therapy, meditation etc but I am having an anxious period at the moment and have asked my GP for medication to help and now I’m too nervous to take it because of all the side effects.

Just wondering if anyone else takes both meds together?

  • Hi SuziWonga

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you are feeling anxious and having panic attacks.  While I don't have the experience you are looking for I noticed that you haven't had any replies yet so I thought I'd reply to you to bump you to the top of the discussion.  Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.

    Best wishes

  • Sorry I don't have an answer to your question on anxiety meds, but just to say that I had a course of acupuncture that did wonders for my anxiety (from medical menopause, exemestane, cancer!), if you haven't' tried that yet it is definitely worth a go.

  • Thank you. I’ve had acupuncture pre-cancer and found it beneficial & have been toying with going back. So thank you for your reply as I’ve just booked an appointment next week after seeing your reply. Let’s see if it can work some magic.

  • I found CBD dummies have settled my mood fluctuations due to the hormone therapy. And I agree that acupuncture was helpful too.

  • Hi!  I’m on Duloxetine primarily for pain but it’s also an anti anxiety med.  I take this with Exemetase x

  • That's great you've booked in for acupuncture again. Hope it really helps

  • Thank you Zephyr. I did try CBD drops but didn’t find they helped but I think the gummies are more potent so I might try those instead.

  • Hi Birdie, thanks for your reply. Can I ask, did you feel worse initially taking Duloxetine until your body got used to them? Also it says ‘driving reactions can be impaired’ on Fluoxetine. Did you have any side effects?

  • I was already on Duloxetine primarily for fibro pain.  Initial side effects were nausea and constipation.  I’m fine on them now but they’re no longer really helping and they are a devil to get off!   I had to come off them when I was taking Tamoxifen and I turned into a lunatic because of the effects of withdrawal
