So I am waiting on my radiotherapy anytime now. I stopped chemo after one cycle. Just wondered what other people experiences with radiotherapy was like for breast cancer treatment xx
Hi Bookworm 66
Sorry to hear that you stopped chemo. It affects ppl in different ways. My 4th cycle was the worst...10 days in bed.
Radiotherapy is a walk in the park. I had 15 sessions and was fine. Just need to keep applying the cream to the area. Some ppl experience tiredness but I was ok. Just a wee doze in the afternoon. I'm 67 and sometimes I still need a doze in the afternoon but that's normal enuf. I finished mine 23rd December last year.
Hope all goes well for you.
Just finished mine a week ago. Hope this helps;
You are given a velcro ,short velcro top to pop on before each treatment.
You are collected and go into room.
Next they line you up with all tattoo marks, arms above your head.
They scan you to make sure position is good (90 seconds)
Bring you out (90 seconds)
Back in for treatment (120 seconds)
Finished!
The hardest bit was the journey, 2 hours there,Brighton, and 1 1/2 back. The itching has started, if it gets bad I was advised to take Piraton.
Good luck, you will be absolutely fine.
