Having a lumpectomy I  a few weeks and also biopsy on lymph nodes.  How long was peoples recovery.

  • Hi Poucha

I had a lumpectomy and two lymph nodes taken out from under my arm in March 2021.  My recovery didn't take too long.  I was in hospital just for the day and went home a few hours after my operation.  It took me only a couple of days to recover.  I was back out and about 2 days after the operation.  Just bear in mind that one size doesn't fit all so your recovery might be slower than mine.

Best of luck with the operation and with the biopsy.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Poucha,  Had 2 separate lumpectomies done about 8 weeks apart snd both were pretty easy recovery. I did not have any lymph node surgery so that is different. I only took one prescription pain pill each surgery and was up snd about doing most of my normal things.  No heavy lifting and being sensible but staying active can help to heal .  Everyone is different so follow your surgeon’s orders and listen to your body.  Take care

  • Much the same as others, in and out for day surgery, using painkillers for a few days, but up and about as normal the day after surgery. I was back running within 2 weeks wearing 2 sports bras. I am (largely) retired but would not have needed more than a couple of days off work had I been working. Bear in mind everyone’s experience is different. I had had a hip replacement 6 months earlier and in contrast this was a breeze.

  • Hi Poucha. Everyone recovers differently. I had lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removed. I felt fine very quickly, a few days but tiredness was probably the worst, lasted about five days. Good luck and keep us posted.
