Had lumpectomy in apr, radiotherapy in June and all went fantastic no problem back to work etc. then in July infection on scar. Learned after a week great, then end of August it all started and hasn’t stopped. First they said abscess then seroma then mastitis I had another biopsy to make sure no more cancer that was clear Thank gos, but I have been in antibiotics since having just spent three days in hospital on a drip antibiotics every 6 hours, had to have a canular taken out as got infected arm swelled up and out in hand now I have been released but still in antibiotics 4ntimes a day and have a very sore swollen hand and arm. To say k am fed up is an understatement everything went so well and they just tell me I a. Unlucky!!! What I am is totally fed up, I thank god the cancer has gone. It my story has not ended as I still have the infection in my breast god knows what will happen next.
Hello Jaxs, No wonder you are fed up and sick of the whole thing. Sounds like they cannot get this infection under control and hopefully this course if antibiotics will get rid of it. Do they have you do warm compresses for it? Do they think you have some lymphedema too? Thankful no cancer going on. I hope you feel better really soon. I would think they would have done a culture to see what the bacteria was.

Hi Jaxs,
Just seen your post- has it all cleared up yet? What happened after the infection cleared up and hope your hand and arm are ok.
I had lumpectomy with sentinel node removal over a month ago and had fluid left under the arm but stitches appeared to be healing. Also got the all clear on the cancer and got marked up for radiotherapy so all was going really well.
As if was Easter holidays we thought a fabulous holiday was in order as my hubby and youngest son had also been through this journey with me of having chemo and surgery. Well I’m now in a Cyprus hospital after the swelling under my arm and redness developed into a large abscess. I’ve been here 3 days so far and they have opened and drained the abscess. The cannula in my hand was getting unbearable and last night I noticed my hand was swollen so they took it out, thank god but are now planning on taking me to theatre to try and put another one in- and clean the wound and re pack it again- and they will not use my port.
I have to stay here having this done until my flight home in 4 days with my husband getting a taxi to visit me twice a day. I’m so tired of asking them to use mg port. I refused them to try and get blood this morning as I’m so sore.
I just want to know that there is light at he end of the tunnel. Will fly home with wound packed and then go to my UK hospital to see what happens next.
Oh bless you, you poor thing. It does get better I had 4 days in I’v every 4 hours but it did the trick. I am so sorry you are going through this, once you get home you will feel much better, I understand how down you must be but hang on in there I had my year mammogram and get results Tuesday so but nervous but life is just too short to worry. Keep your chin up xxxx
Gosh this has been a struggle for you for sure. Not a vacation!! Well am glad you will be going home soon so you can follow up with your regular doctors. Cannula in the finger has to feel strange for sure. You will need to really go on a real vacation with no hospital stays soon if you can.

Thanks Barbara,
There is light at the end of this tunnel, finger cannula is holding out and tomorrow they will clean and repack wound and if bloods are ok I can be discharged. I will wait till next year to do my cancer free holiday!!
