So I had my mastectomy on Tuesday. I was the very last one on the list so it was a long day. Surgeon was brilliant though after all the staff both pre-op and after up.
Because it was so late in the day, I was kept in overnight and everyone was so kind and looked after me so well.
Home now but guess what ??? the other half has Covid! You really couldn’t make it up could you?
So we have half a house each! Not quite the homecoming I had anticipated, and I think he is struggling with not be able to look after me.
Overall, I am not too bad. Bit wobbly and a bit sore but not as bad as I expected it to be. The heart cushion they gave me at the hospital is brilliant and is permanently tucked under my arm at the moment.
I am wearing a pico unit to help with healing as I previously had radiotherapy.
So just thought I would update anybody who is waiting for surgery.
Hi MissMolly so pleased that the surgery is past for you and thank you for coming back and letting us know how you are. As you say you cculdn't make these things up but you need to keep yourself as safe as you can. Poor other half will be feeling so unwell both with Covid and not being able to look after you as they would have wanted too.
Sending you some huge big gentle hugs for a continued trouble free recovery. xxxx
Hi Miss Molly,
Glad you are home and you had a long day for sure. It was good to be kept overnight although it is hard to get rest in hospital.
So sorry that you are on your own for recovery and I know your hubby would rather be helping you. I saw those pillows at my breast surgeons office and they are made by volunteers. I had lumpectomy so no pillow for me.
That pico unit sounds like a great idea too.
Just take it easy and happy to hear that you are doing well post op.

Oh how annoying is that to get covid! Hopefully he will be clear soon and ready to spoil you. Just take things steady, as long as you have good supplies of food etc you can just rest and watch tv or read etc. sounds as though they looked after you well. I was given a heart cushion even though I only had lumpectomy! I love it, it is comfy and very pretty.
