Hi

I’m on my second dose of chemo (Red Devil) , I had a big lateral masectomy 12 weeks ago was just wondering if anyone had experienced similar side effects .

my chest was healing great had good mobility after an axially clearance on one side however after I have had my chemo I have experienced that tight band feeling across my chest was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same , it does seem to go off after a week or so .

  • Yes. It seemed to affect scar tissue not just from the mastectomy but also from foot surgery I’d had previously. It didn’t last long then settled.  Mention it to your team but also really try to keep going with the post op exercises even if you don’t stretch as far - it’s easier to build strength than it is to regain lost mobility and they can help release that tight hand feeling - just keep it little and often abd don’t push it.

  • Thanks

I was hoping it wasn’t just me , it does ease off but I will defo start up the exercises x

  • Hi

    1. I had similar after chemo and had a flush of red across the scar area and swelling.. Not sure if chemo or steroids caused it but very uncomfortable. Like you say it settles. I am still suffering tightness after radiotherapy which I finished in June. Exercise does help x
