I'm having really bad EC side effects.

I feel sore and swollen all over.

My head is banging and achey legs.

Anyone else having it bad with EC?

  • Hi AJM

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so rotten after your chemo.  While I didn't have EC, my chemo was AC I thought I'd reply to you as I noticed that you haven't had any replies yet.  I suggest that you ring the number you were given by your chemo nurse to tell them about the symptoms you are experiencing.  Also drink plenty of fluids to flush out your system.

Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your treatment.  Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

    Best wishes

  • Hi

I had EC and didn't have too many bad symptoms but I did feel sore and achy for a few days afterwards.  How many cycles are you having?  As Daisy53 said it is important to drink plenty to flush your system and I found that this really helped me.

Hope that it gets better for you.

  • I finished AC a few weeks ago and there were days when I had a lot of pain in my neck particularly and around the scarring from my mastectomy in May and even in the scar tissue from an op I had on my foot two years ago and a shoulder op previous to that. I felt it was attacking any residual areas of inflammation somehow but then it settled.  But was back next cycle.  It’s worth calling your team and telling them how you are feeling but also noting down which days after the treatment you feel worse and seeing how long it lasts - my pattern repeated itself pretty similarly each time and it helped me to know that bit lasted 2-3 days and then it would move on.  I do hope you feel a bit better soon.

  • Also I had a dreadful headache the first day or so - I think that can be the steroids so tell your team.  As the others said drink plenty of water especially that first night before you go to bed. I found the headaches got a bit better with each round.

  • i too had bad headaches with EC fluids definitely help and paracetamol if you have done temp checks first, don't hesitate to ring your team as I suffered in silence the first round only to find I was being silly & they have been a great help since xxFingers crossed

  • I had a certain amount of soreness and achiness after using the Filgrastim injections. I had 5 jabs each cycle from day 5 onwards. It got a bit easier with each day, also cycles 2, 3 and 4 weren’t as uncomfortable as cycle. I found ibuprofen helped.

  • Just been diagnosed with shingles so that would explain why I feel so rubbish.
