Hi all i in my 4th week of taxol. I have been prepared for loosing my hair and think im okay with it and had it cut short. It’s now starting to go. Not in chunks but strands etc. I have pretty much thick hair and think I could probably ride it out for a bit before the buzz. It’s just the mess. Particularly on my back and shoulders. This may sound stupid but wondering if it would work like a dog macting. Get in there once a day giving it very good brush and get it out so doesn’t fall? So far I’ve just been doing minimal brushing/ combing. Any advice would be much appreciated for instance shound I be using a particular type of brush.     Pray

  • Hi, am sorry you are losing your hair. I would brush it often as it has a tendency to tangle/matt if loose strands are left. It can be more comfortable if you wear a hat to catch the hair, especially at night. It does eventually fall out in larger amounts. If your head is feeling a bit tender, the hat helps with that too as the hair is less likely to catch. I don't think there is any brush that is better than another. Do you have head wear or a wig for when it goes? There are loads of fabulous options out there xx

  • I did the full buzz cut before I started chemo and felt strangely empowered by it and was surprised at how much I actually liked it! For me, having thinning and patchy hair would have been worse. I shaved it again, and closer, once my hair started to fall out so I didn't really notice all the hair loss, only the going bald.

  • Hi yeah got my wig and headscarf’s at the ready. Been watching you tube and practicing. Lol
