I had chemo May to September last year for breast cancer. I lost most of my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. My hair is growing back very thick and curly, and my eyebrows are a bit thinner than they were, but look relatively normal. My eyelashes were beautifully long by Christmas, but then they all fell out again. I know eyelashes do that. They only last about 8-12 weeks, then fall out to be replaced by new ones anyway, and normally it doesn't notice because they are all at different stages. When you start from nothing, I suppose the timing is that they will all drop at pretty much the same time.
But now it's almost a year after I finished chemo and they're still dropping at the same time. I have a few long lashes that look all spidery, and the rest are noticeably shorter. I was really hoping that they would have evened out by now.
Is this just me, or has anyone else noticed the same?
Hi
I finished my chemo April this year and like you lost all hair, eyebrows, eyelashes too Mine grew back but the middle ones have come out once. I got some Prime mascara which is lovely for special ocsions it was £25 pound but helps condition lashes too. It is annoying as you think you are back on track and then get hit with another reminder of what you have been through. Although have to say ev
y time I look in a mirror it is a huge reminder
Good luck x
I know, right? Nearly a year on, and I still have a poodle-head! I used the UKlash lash serum. It's really good. I've never known my outer eyelashes to get very long, but with the serum they grow long enough to curl. I'll check out Prime mascara. Thank you!
Is your hair growing back curly? The same colour? Hope you're doing OK by now.
Hi RedSquirrelsNuts ,
I wondered how your eyelashes have now turned out and if they may have settled at their usual pre-chemo level?
I'm going through exactly the same right now it seems :( I'm 5 months post chemo and after they grew back to their pre-chemo version ( long and thick), with the help of the UK Lash Serum , which I have been using since the beginning of chemo, but they have just started thinning and falling out again , it's really upsetting me actually I wondered if they'd all fall out again...did yours fall out completely at that point and then regrew again later on?
I hope you are doing well ️
Thank you.
Hello, this article is excellent and gives options. I am sure it is discouraging.

Hope some of these suggestions help you. It is interesting as I have glaucoma and one of my eye drops side effects is eyelash growth so my eye lashes are longer and thicker. Also irritates my eyelids so that is an ugh side effect of it. Did not have chemo but I know it is side effect.

Thank you Barbara ️
I'll take a look... I just feel sad I have to endure this no eyelash look all over again xx
I understand as this whole cancer stuff is rough.

Mine was very curly to begin with. Looked like a judge’s wig.
It is now as straight as before - has taken about eighteen months since chemotherapy finished.
