Hi guys, I am starting Docetaxel (Taxotere) at 2pm tomorrow. I have been given steroids to start 24hrs before - I took that literally and took a dose at 2pm. It then says morning and night on the bottle.
i am slightly confused if I should be taking another tonight. Or 2 lots more before chemo tomorrow. I just wondered how everyone else did it? From searching the forum I can see a lot of people did 2 full doses the day before chemo. Doing one as early as possible and another 6 hours later so they weren’t taking too late in the day. So perhaps they did another 1 or even 2 before their actual chemo on the day. What did you do? Are people taking 2,3 or 4 doses before they do Docetaxel?
I am waiting for a call back from the out of hours chemo team to ask them. But I guess you wonderful people will know best what worked for you…. I’d rather not be taking steroids at 9pm! But I also don’t want to risk a bad reaction by not taking enough in advance. Conversely, I don’t want to take too many before the chemo then perhaps only have 2 doses for after which maybe isn’t enough?

Hi, I didn’t want to let you post go unread for long as I can imagine you might be sitting at home worrying. I think I took the steroid morning and lunchtime the day before, day of and day after chemo. I am pretty sure the reason for this is they tend to keep you awake, so best not to take too late in the day, but it's 18 months ago now and my fuzzy brain can't quite remember.
