I had a lumpectomy a year ago and lymph glands removed followed by radiotherapy. I was put onto Letrazole initially which made my joints ache and pains in my abdomen.
I then went onto Anastrazole I have been on it for about 6 months. I amnow having painful joints in my fingers thumbs and shoulder. My rings won't go over my knuckles and more. What I would like to know is does this swelling damage the joints permanently?
Will my joints get back to normal when I come off Anastazole???
Also since my radiotherapy has finished I still have a bruised feeling under my right breast which is shrinking, so much so that my bra moves across my chest so that you can see the cup at a 'V' in the collar of my blouse. Is there a small prosthetic that would fit in my bra to balance the fit????
Thanks in anticipation of help

Hi Tat57 Kizzy
I am coming up to 12 months post op and radiotherapy. I am still sore at the bottom of the front of bra line. I started wearing zip front sports bras that have a little pouch for pads. I just use both pads provided in the same cup and it works for me. Never worn a proper bra since the op.
I was put on Anastrozole first and it nearly crippled me with joint pain. I had a 6 week break and am now on Exemestane which although not perfect is better.
Not sure about lasting damage someone will probably know more than I do but I'm 65 and doubt anything is going to be like it was previously. I'll be happier when I've had my first annual mammogram at the end of this month so I can be sure what I feel now when examining my breast is definitely my new normal. All the best.
Hoping for great news for you on upcoming mammogram. I just had my first one done since surgery and radiation this past week. All was good and such a relief. I tried not to stress out too much about it but always will be apprehensive.
I have been doing breast massage daily since my radiation oncologist gave me the ok to do it.
started on May 9th and breasts feel good. I am small breasted so go brakes as often as possible.
praying for good report ..

Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply,y it sounds as though we are in a similar place in our journey. I have just had my first scan a year after treatment, which was fine. I also had a physical check by a breast cancer nurse that was supposed to have happened next year but the wrong date was put on file so I got it early but won't have another check for 2 years unless I have concerns. I am also a very active 65 yearold!
I used the zip front bras initially and then sports type bras for everyday but they flatten my chest so that I hardly have any shape which if I'm working in the garden or walking the do is fine but if I go out for a special occasion it would be nice to look and feel good as the sports type bras aren't very feminine either.
Maybe someone else has found a different solution.?
Thanks again for your response and very best wishes for your mammogram results x
Hello, finding a bra that fits well has always been difficult for me as I am small breasted 34A. I needed to get new bras after surgery and radiation and just happened to see pepper.com. Well I have found a terrific bra that actually fits me really well with no gaps . It is from pepper.com and I get the modal material one. So nice and soft and no binding but very feminine looking too. They have a soft padding in a little pouch and it can be removed. I don’t know any recommendations for larger breasted women. I also wear sports bra when I go cycling but only for exercise.
