Two IDC in separate quadrants

Hi, sorry that you are now dealing with breast cancer. When you say idc I assume you mean invasive ductal carcinoma.  As far as the choice of surgery your surgeon must feel that with the lumpectomy you will still get a good cosmetic result.  Lumpectomy is an easier surgery and recovery.  You may need radiation after but all these things will be discussed with surgeon.  I had DCIS in right breast and stage 1 invasive ductal cancer in left.  2 lumpectomy surgeries followed by radiation and now on aromatase inhibitors.  
I understand the disbelief that you feel.  I felt great and had no symptoms at all.  No lump or anything of concern.  Mammogram showed micro calculations right breast only.  Nothing on left one as that was found on MRI.  
My advice would be to check with your surgeon about wanting to delay while you go on visit.  
Good luck with everything and hope Dr says ok for a visit with your son.  Helps to get a break before all the tests, treatments etc

I had lumpectomy and 5 days radium. Op 3 May Finished treatment end of June. Had a little bit trouble with scar tissue afterwards
