My GP suspects breast cancer. I went with a swelling on my collarbone (not lymph node) and she found a breast lump. I’m wondering if they really do give you an appointment in 2 weeks or if I should go private? I’m terrified. I’ve also been told to stop HRT immediately. Feel I’m being hit from all angles. Any advice welcome
Izzy - I got my appointment within 2 weeks. Try to take it one step at a time. You will find that the breast care team will take fabulous care of you. X
Sorry you find yourself here! But “welcome”, you’ll find lots of support on this forum! I too was on HRT and I had a huge lump a matter of weeks after starting. Try not to let your mind go wild, you will probably be fast tracked, resist the urge to go private, the NHS is for sure the way to go. Once you’ve been seen and have a diagnosis one way or the other, you’ll get a treatment plan and will get it sorted. I believe that HRT was the reason I got BC and, in a way, that’s good, because as it was hormone fed, it’s easy enough to treat! Even if it takes longer than 2 weeks for you to be seen, it shouldn’t make much difference to the outcome. Being diagnosed with BC is not great news, but neither is it the “end of the world” as much as it seems like it now. I was diagnosed in November 2021 and I am now “done and dusted”. It wasn’t the best time I’ve ever had, but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Take heart and try to stay positive. Best wishes to you xxxx
Hi again I got my appointment within two weeks and everyone was really helpful and held my hand all the way with options and advice readily available a phone call away so try take things a day at a time and please don’t google use macmillan for advice - online chat is really good I’ve spoken to their nurses a lot X
Hi Izzy
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that your GP suspects you have breast cancer. It’s perfectly understandable that you are terrified. Like the others who’ve relied to you I was seen within two weeks.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly two years ago and I am now cancer free after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy.
Wishing you the best of luck with your appointment.
