Has anyone had a vacumm assisted excision as a form of lumpectomy? My surgeon has now changed her opinion and says that I just need the ares of DCIS removed by vacuum excision in the mammography department and then yearly mammograms and further core biopsies as follow ups.
No, but I read about them in my first days researching how biopsies were done .
From what I gathered it's just a suction force that takes them out instead of surgery , they have to be a certain size for it,
If you need more info it's best to ask your team on how they will perform it , & how to care after, they should give you leaflets about it tho ,

Have heard of it but not familiar with the procedure. Would need to research more to find out if it is the gold standard for treatment. Wish I could be more help.
