Hello. I'm new here. I have just been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Cancer and am struggling with processing all the information I have been given about my cancer and treatment plan.
Hello and understand how you are feeling. Totally normal reaction. It is good that you have a treatment plan. I had invasive stage 1 cancer in left breast and DCIS in right one and had a difficult time getting it all together. But 2 lumpectomies and radiation done I am feeling good. On anastrazole now for 5 years. Be kind to yourself. Now is a good time to do some research and learn all you can. The gals on this website are very supportive as we have all been on the path.
Thankyou so much for your comment. I have Invasive Ductal Cancer in one breast and cancer cells in lymph nodes underarm. It us Grade 2 and Stage is upper end of 2 or 3. I'm starting on Laprazole tomorrow, will have mastectomy and axillary lymph nodes clearance in September, to be followed by radiotherapy. I'm working through the information but the emotional reaction to losing a breast has yet to hit me. I'm sure it will. The hardest thing is coping with the reactions of friends and family.
I can understand as having a mastectomy has to be a difficult thing to deal with on an emotional level. There are many women who have walked the same path and they can help. Friends and family often don’t how to react and can sometimes say things that don’t help even though they mean well. There is so much help for us. Another option is reconstruction too so there will be some decisions for you to make but that is in the future. I am small breasted so if my cancers had been bigger lumpectomy would not have been an option. I will be thinking of you and praying for you too. I found that going out for walks and appreciating nature helped some with the stress. Barbara
