Hi everyone, I’m just after a little bit of advice if that’s ok?
I had a wide local excision and removal of 3 lymph nodes in April 22.
I’m halfway through my radiotherapy and have been prescribed Letrazole whilst I awaited my surgery. I’m still struggling with aches and hot flushes and wondered if anyone has any experience of a particular brand that is less troublesome? I’ve not noticed which brands I’ve had so far so not been able to do any comparison?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi
I've been taking letrozole since last September, have been given five different brands so far: Manx, Accord, SunPharma, Crescent, Glenmark (whatever pharmacy had in stock). I compared all the brands and their ingredients, it's the coatings that differ between brands, however I discovered Cipla brand contains tartrazine (E102) which is not used in any other brand and asked my pharmacy not to give me Cipla. My pharmacy does their best to give me SunPharma each month.
I really think it's a case of trial and error to find which brand suits, I've read from others that one should take a brand for three months before comparing. I know everyone is different when it comes to medications but I agree with the BCNs that any side effects settle down after six months. I had terrible knee pain when I began letrozole but it has gone now, though I do have joint pain in my hands which I didn't have before, I'm now convinced that any effects are caused by the loss of oestrogen and not which brand. It's certainly been a journey so far!
Take care x
Eline
Thank you so much for the reply, I’ve been on them for nearly 5 months so hoping things start to settle soon. But may look out for the Sun Pharma ones. Wishing you all the best xx
Thank you so much for the reply, I’m hoping things settle soon but sounds like the Sun pharma one may be worth trying, I haven’t really took much notice of which brands I’ve been given so I’ll start to check. Sending you best wishes xxx
Janemb I can’t seem to work out how to reply but thank you so much for the advice, sending my best wishes to you xx
