Oncotype DX Test

Hello. I had this test and i believe it depends on the score you get as to whether you require chemotherapy. 

I had the test. Depends on a few different thing s. Told me if my score was under 25 I would not have chemo  it was 17 !  I had lumpectomy  and five days radiotherapy   I had two positive lymph nodes   I am 63. This was last year !! 

 CARNT BELIEVE THEY SEND THIS TEST TO AMERICA IT TAKES THREE WEEKS FOR RESULT   ARENT WE LUCKY. IN EAST YORKSHIRE.  APPARENTLY IN SOME PARTS OF THE COUNTRY THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE.  IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL BREAST CANCER PATIENTS 

I’m in Manchester and yes he said the test goes to America 

no one mentioned chemo until today - I just thought I’d need radiotherapy 

I was just wondering how common it was for the results to say that chemo is required 

I don’t know suppose it depends on results cancer type etc   Test was t mentioned to me until after my operation   I think everyone is different xx

Yes the test wax only mentioned to me today. It was the first that chemo was mentioned xx

• Have you had your operation    They take samples from that     I have two lymph nodes positive so I think that’s why I was given the test

yes ive had a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. He said today that they were clear but recommended this test xx

In studies  around 70% of women won’t need chemo who had the Oncotype test -  I can’t put links on but there was a large study carried out when the test was first used and this was the result. 
if you are HER2+ or triple negative you cannot have the test and chemo is invariably always offered. 
The test means that women are not over-treated , and also women who may not have been offered chemo may end up with a high score and be offered chemo, so covers both ends of the recurrence scale.
